Easter Basket for my teen

Easter and teens, it’s not as easy as when they were little. Since we first wrote this post along with our Easter Egg fillers for teens post, they’ve become some of our most popular posts which show you’re not alone. We’ve updated this post for 2023 with the latest things teens are into now.

Now that your kids are getting older and no longer believe in the Easter bunny, do you still get them Easter baskets?

In our family, everyone gets a basket, adults included. It’s fun for me. If it works for your family go for it. If it’s not for your family, no big deal, and something you can pass on. I will always make my son an Easter basket even when he is grown and has moved out on his own. Whether you fill a basket with their favorite Easter candy or add a few gifts, that is up to you and your family. Personally, I find joy in spoiling my son and will add a few gifts and non-Easter snacks in addition to candy.

When they’re little, they’re happy with anything – jelly beans, stickers, or fake tattoos. But now that they’re teenagers, we need some new ideas that will interest them (though they still will love jelly beans, stickers (the fancier ones though) and temporary tattoos. Adding gifts to a basket that are their favorites or encourages their interests helps to show our teens that we listen, we understand them and we support their passions (even if we don’t always understand).

Teenagers like to act like they’re independent and don’t care, but many do really love their childhood traditions and enjoy still being included.

I asked my resident teen expert, my son. My son’s response…gift cards (which are great ideas but I need more to fill the basket). And snacks. Seems like all teens want money and food. I love to get things he already needs over extra stuff that is just going to create clutter or be a waste of money.

With warmer weather coming, it’s great to fill the basket with pool supplies, outdoor toys, beach/pool clothes. Easter was originally the celebration of Spring (in the northern hemisphere) before it became a Christian holiday. Rebirth, a new beginning. The start of warmer and sunnier days. I also like to add a few things such as outdoor toys, things for the pool, or summer clothes (all things they need anyway)

Clothes or jewelry is always a hit. Most teens could use a refresh of their shoes at this point in the school year.

Fun Easter Baskets for teens

Want to be creative and use something other than a traditional woven basket for their Easter Basket? How about something they might use, so it also becomes part of the gift

  • Beach tote
  • Baseball hat – turn it upside down and fill it with the goodies
  • Laundry basket – have they moved out on their own or off to college? Use a laundry basket as their basket and fill it with goodies for their home or dorm room

Do you have a kid who is away at school or living on their own and won’t make it home? Send an Easter care package to surprise them.
