Easter Egg ideas for Teen boys

(updated for 2023)

As kids reach their tween and teen years, we still want to make holidays fun but things that interest them change. For Easter, they may not be as interested in the jelly beans, stickers, and temporary tattoos.

Originally this post was written as Easter Egg fillers for teen boys but there shouldn’t be separate ‘boy gifts’ and ‘girl gifts’ (other than sometimes size and a few other reasons) and I have updated the post so it works for ideas for both girls and boys.

What to do if you have several kids of different ages or interests?

  • Use a specific colored egg for each kid
  • Hide the eggs in different parts of the yard or room in the house
  • Monogram the eggs – use a paint pen or stickers to add their initials to the eggs.

Traditional plastic eggs are small (usually 2″-2.5″) which can make it really hard to find things that fit in these eggs. There are larger-sized eggs and even some fun jumbo-sized plastic Easter eggs that will give you so many more options for filling them for the egg hunt. We use mostly the 3.5″ eggs, a few jumbo eggs, and a few golden eggs.

  • Scavenger hunt clues (to find the Easter basket). Make finding their basket a challenge with a series of clues hidden in the eggs which takes them egg to egg and finally their basket.
  • Word scramble – write out where the basket is hidden and cut apart the letters. Put one letter in each egg and make them unscramble them to spell out where their basket is hidden.
  • homemade coupons – night out with mom or dad, movies with the family, get out of chores pass
