We all Scream for Ice Cream

We are an ice cream loving family – its always been my sweet of choice and my son is the same. Love to go out for ice cream, enjoy it at home and serve it for parties. A few years ago we started a Back to School Ice Cream party tradition. We host a few friends for a play date and ice cream a few days before school starts.

How to plan a Back to School Ice Cream Party

Time for party setup. We keep the party small – more like a fancy play date. I love to create fun dessert buffets when we entertain even for smaller gatherings.
To keep things simple I usually design my dessert buffets around 2-3 colors and then add a few signs and props for the theme. For this party, I went with red and yellow for the colors. To bring in color, I use platters, plastic tubs, napkins, and cups. I usually add some ribbon or washi tape to my containers for an added touch. Color coordinating food is always a fun touch –  I chose sprinkles in red and yellow. Since this was a Back to School themed party I grabbed some pencils, composition books and clipboards for the props.
My son couldn’t wait to try the ice cream bars – double chocolate, yum!

How do you celebrate back to school?
